
Alex Johnson
Alex Johnson is a Professor in the School of BioSciences at the University of Melbourne. He has 15+ years of experience in “biofortified” crops that enrich human and livestock diets with essential micronutrients such as iron and zinc. His research employs a variety of biotech tools including genetic engineering and gene editing to enhance crop performance. Alex previously held postdoctoral positions at the University of Cambridge (Cambridge, UK) and the Australian Centre for Plant Functional Genomics (Adelaide, Australia) and has a MSc and PhD from Virginia Tech (Blacksburg, USA).
